Barnabas Arts House News – May 2020 Update

Well hello,

Here at Barnabas I thought it was about time to make contact with you all: friends, supporters, art-lovers and newcomers.

Weird doesn’t quite sum up these surreal times adequately, does it? But the only way forward is hope, creativity, kindness community and fun – all of which we are going to bring you at Barnabas Arts House.

Some of the Barnabas tenants have been doing their bit: Elspeth Thomas has been making scrubs for NHS workers, Avril Kerr sewing masks, Josh & Rhys making visors and Oriane Pierrepoint has been painting/drawing portraits of NHS workers.

At the moment we are not open, but intend to have a regular presence on instagram/facebook to keep us in your thoughts. BAH is Newport’s only independent arts house and relies on the support of YOU the people, as well as the unstinting help of the BAH team.

Once we are able to open we shall observe any safety rules that we have to, whilst at the same time offering:

  • exciting art on the gallery walls
  • a simple cafe experience, with distanced seating if necessary
  • picture framing service
  • piano use
  • counselling
  • table tennis
  • life coaching
  • a listening service – someone will give you their time, a friendly ear & hot drink – watch out for further details.

In short, once open we look forward to welcoming you back to the magic that is Barnabas Arts House.

Take care

Janet Martin
